Great achievements by our users in 2011

As 2011 was coming to an end, we thought about the millions of workouts our community had done. It was the time of year to be reflective, so we gave our users the chance to pound their chest and share their proudest sports performance of 2011 with us.

We got many terrific responses and here are a few handpicked achievements proving that our users never fail to inspire us:

Jill, Kate and Slenderella discovered and brought out their inner athlete:

Adrenaline rushed Jukka-Pekka and Richard took it above and beyond, having fun in the nature with extreme hiking and mountain-biking:

Jerry rocked 2011, becoming a big loser only when it comes to his body weight:

Who needs a car when you can pump your pedals like Lukáš? :)

Finally, our very special kudos go to Andrew, who used event as a tool to raise funds:

Got inspired too? Already planning some cool workouts for this year? We would like to hear about it on our Facebook page!

We love our Facebook friends!

In December we passed 100.000 Likes on our Facebook page thanks to the support of our many users. To celebrate this we made a challenge where 100 lucky Facebook friends would win a one year subscription to our Athletes Lounge.

You all showed great support of this challenge and 100 winners have now been found. To see if you are one of the lucky people, please go to The 100k Facebook friends challenge.

If you want to stay updated on the latest Endomondo news and have a chance to win Endomondo goodies, then join us at our Facebook page.

Once again thanks for the support!

Can you beat these workouts?

We challenged our Facebook friends to one-up Christian, a user who last year left us a pretty special Christmas note in the form of this creative workout.

Merry Xmas Endomondo workout

Well, the Facebook community responded and users Marit and Manny rung in the New Year with some pretty ingenious workout of their own.

Happy New Year Endomondo workout

We think this is pretty amazing. But the real questions is can you do it better?

Share a creative workout here or on our Facebook page if you got the skills!

Happy Holidays from Endomondo!

We hope everybody has a wonderful holiday season. Though we reminded your earlier, it is worth repeating, the New Year comes more quickly than you think, so don't be caught unprepared for that New Year's resolution to get in better shape. Sneak in some exercise amidst all the delicious food this year and stay ahead of the game. This year, make the New Year's resolution "just keep doing what I'm doing!". Let's make 2012 the healthiest year yet.

Our Poetic Users

Every month, we have been asking our Facebook fans a question about how they use Endomondo. This month we thought we would change it up and ask them to tell us why they like to work out, in poem form. The responses we got back were fantastic! Here are some of our favorites:

We really enjoyed Roberto’s submission because it was easy to relate to and had our favorite line from the posts, “I even hear my laces asking me why.”

I Run

Suzie’s was the only haiku, and gets bonus points that, but was also really nice.

Haiku

Iwan chose to play with form in a different way, taking the classic “roses are red” formulae and adding a dash of the absurd.

Nonsense poem

Speaking of playing with style, we really like Andreas’ poem becau.. Zzzzz...

Martha’s poem was quite moving (pun not intended), and was our favorite “serious” post of the group.

And finally, we will leave you with a response tailored to the season.

You can read all the fun poems on the facebook page.

Checking In On This Month's Challenges

We have two Global Challenges finishing up at the end of this month, so we figured we would check in on the leaderboards to see how people are doing

First, we have the Endomondo Sportswear Running Challenge which started at the beginning of the month. Vitor Coelho from Portugal seems to have a commanding lead, as the only person who has run over 400 miles, and the rest of the Top Five seem reasonably set, but after that, things get really close and it's anybody's race.

Next we have the Calorie Challenge by BlackBerry, which also started at the beginning of the month, where Kurt Nielsen from Denmark is in the lead with over 100,000 calories burned so far. That is a pace of about a 4,000 calories a day!

Keep up the good work everbody and stay tuned for more challenges.

Summer Fun

Last month, we got the idea to see if our users had any special summer workout plans, so we asked our Facebook Fans if they had anything "exotic" scheduled. It turns out that "exotic" is in the eye of the beholder, as is "summer" for that matter!

From the warm beaches of Aruba to the cold top of Mount Mulanje in Malawi, Endomondo users are exercising all over the world, in every condition. This July, the most frequent condition in Europe seemed to be rain, which led to many of our fans suggesting that at this point, a break in the precipitation would be a vacation in itself. So, up North, the rain was making it seem like summer had not truly arrived -- one man from New York wondered if it got "more exotic than my basement?" -- yet users were still hiking and riding through the rain. Down South of course, it was actually winter, but that didn't stop our users, as they ran up Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa, or ran on the beaches in Uruguay and Australia.

Whether you are swimming the Mediterranean or riding your bike from London to Paris, we hope that you all will keep us posted on the places, exotic and mundane, that you are taking Endomondo.

A Successful First Team Challenge

July saw the completion of our first official team challenge! The challenge pitted countries against each other in a battle for running supremicy. When we checked in midway through the month, Denmark has taken a commanding lead but the bottom few spots in the top ten were very much contested.

Most of the top ten stayed the same through the end of the month, but in the last few days of the challenge, Italy managed to edge out Sweden and swap places. Congratulations to all the runners for doing your countries proud!

World Run Update

In June, when we last checked in on Jesper Olsen's quest to run around the world (yes, the whole world) for a second time (yes, a second time), he was more than halfway through his trip -- in Iquique, Chile. This month we find him 650 km, and one country, further in his journey -- near Arequipa, the second-largest city in Peru.

Click here to follow Jesper's journey, World Run II.

Team Challenge Update

This month, we launched our first official team challenge, rewarding runners for using our new team challenge feature to show their national pride. Each country is a team, and at the end of the month we will draw lots among users on the winning team to determine who gets five sets of Endomondo gear including a jacket and a mobile case. Runners get one ticket in the draw per mile logged, so the more you run, the better your odds.

We are almost two thirds of the way through the month, and Denmark seems to have taken a commanding lead, but things really start to get tight around the bottom few spots in the top ten. Follow the challenege here and join the race to support your country!
