I was looking at May. I logged my miles at roughly 8pm last night, and they hadn't updated by 11pm. Looked again this morning and everything had updated. All is good.

@Zach - They update just fine. This issue you are likely having is that the leaderboard view is on a month by month basis. It switched months, so... You either need to look at the month you're interested in or select "Entire Period".

Anyone else having trouble with points updating?

No Leon, they should have no issue going around you in the other lane. And honestly, truly serious riders won't be on the trail as it's not safe to maintain the speeds on a multi use trail nor elevation grades significant enough to be challenging. My pace on the trail may be quicker than most but I have no issue slowing to almost a complete stop to wait for a safe time to pass someone. In my mind, this is a requirement in using the trail as part of a community. When I want to really crank out some miles, the county roads are a much better option all the way around.

My biggest issue is the 'serious' riders on the trails. The road bikes that are in a hurry; it is very rare for me to hear one of them say 'on your left' as they pass me and many seem unwilling to actually switch lanes to go around me. Is there a reason courtesy doesn't apply to them? Other than that, I love the bike trails around Cedar Rapids and use them frequently.

Hey, Bike Burlington Cyclists, Take a look at the Iowa Bicycle Challenge at www.iowagoesbybicycle.com. Right now, Burlington is in 17th place out of 24 Iowa communities. I know a lot of people put in a lot of miles. Iowa is in 5th place nationally. Burlington could bring us to the top!

  • May 04 at 16:54

The Iowa Goes By Bicycle Challenge started on May 1 and there are 368 riders from Iowa participating. This contest is part of the National Bicycle Challenge and Iowa is in 6th place. Wisconsin was the favorite in the race, but they were just beat out by Vermont. Also coming on strong is Nebraska. I think we have a secret weapon in Iowa during that great big bike ride in July. Start logging your rides either online or with the smartphone app.

Jamie Shae, Paul Prentice, Jeff Cozad, Caleb Lundberg, and Paul Black have the top 5 places in Iowa.
ACT, University of Iowa, Retired, ESCO Electric, and Bicycle Surplus are the top 5 businesses.
Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Ames, Spirit Lake, and Des Moines-West Des Moines are the top 5 communities.

To join the contest, participants visit www.iowagoesbybicycle.com and click to join the challenge. Bicyclists can use their Facebook login and share their rides with their friends.

Bicyclists wanted to record rides and win prizes.

The Iowa Bicycle Coalition is merging the popular Iowa Goes By Bicycle Challenge with the newly created National Bicycle Challenge to encourage more people to ride bicycles. The Iowa Challenge will be given new online tools allowing more competition between individuals, workplaces, communities, and states.

“We had almost 1,000 participants last year,” says Mark Wyatt, executive director of the Iowa Bicycle Coalition. “The new website and smartphone app will make it even easier for more people to participate.”

To join the contest, participants visit www.iowagoesbybicycle.com and clicks to join the challenge. Bicyclists can use their Facebook login and share their rides with their friends.

“The new website allows people to share their rides, routes, and times. If a friend of mine is riding the same route, the website will tell me if I am faster or slower,” Wyatt said. “I can even record my ride by clicking start on my smartphone. The ride is automatically recorded and uploaded to the site. It is just so easy.”

The National Bicycle Challenge is sponsored by Kimberly Clark, the League of American Bicyclists, and Bikes Belong. The contest will have prizes in 16 different categories and runs from May 1 to August.
