"Cycling is really for May through September"? Really?? I've got some winter mileage that'll challenge that assertion.

My guess is we won't see the warm up until April 1st. A northerner wrote to me and said that "Cycling is really for May through September". He is a very nice man who is one of the advocates for cycling.

It will be interesting to see if either we have the new NBC page on the 1st, or if we don't, and this pre-warmup challenge is either extended, or not.

We got 11 inches Wednesday night/yesterday morning, got it all cleared during a lull during the afternoon yesterday, then another 6 heavy inches overnight last night. OY is right!

Nice Job, @Burklee! I rode in this morning, too, after a 17 inch thumping yesterday. Nota clear patch of street anywhere on the trek; snow tires paying for themselves this year, that's for sure!

I rode to work this morning! The streets are still not completely clear (3 ft. wide patch or ice & snow across the length of our shared driveway, 2 ft. wide swath of that stuff at the end of the sidewalk.) From Washington St. to D St. there's still a lot of packed snow, but I was very careful and didn't attempt any land speed records, so I was just fine. North of D Street, 14th is completely clear. I just can't even tell you how much better I feel having gotten out for a ride this morning!!

Aww, Thanks @Burklee! I was a bus slug for over 20 years, still use it as my back-up plan. My current 10-trip pass was purchased in June and still has 5 rides left on it. See how we fare in 8-10 inches this coming Thursday:-(

@MG - As a slug who has taken the bus most of the winter, I salute you!

But, at least I'm still slogging the daily commute on two wheels. Other than one work-related travel day and one for a snow day (bosses closed the shop), I've been out every working day this year so far! MLW finally stopped commenting...
