The 2025 IFBB Pro League Olympia is shaping up to be one of the most exciting competitions in recent memory. In what’s been an extraordinary build-up, we’ve had shock wins, amazing updates, and competitors jumping up several divisions.

Current Mr. Olympia, Samson Dauda, was sensationally beaten by previous champion, Derek Lunsford, in an epic Arnold Classic showdown. Urs Kalecinski, touted as a future Classical star, moved up to Open Class and won two shows. Forgotten mass monster Nick Walker has shared some incredible updates after narrowly being beaten by Derek earlier this year.

For the first time in several years, there really is no clear favorite. Take a look at the top 10 competitors, and you could arguably pick 5 different champions.

Will Samson make it two in a row, or will a completely new champion step forward? Here’s our IFBB Olympia 2025 preview, including the qualified athletes and our predictions before the big day.

Key Information

  • The 2025 Mr. Olympia will be held from October 6, 2025, to October 12, 2025. It takes place at the Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main Olympia World Fitness Expo (Prejudging and Finals) takes place on Friday, October 10, and Saturday, October 11, 2025
  • The winner of the Men’s Open event will take home a record-breaking $600,000 in prize money alongside the Sandow. There’ll be 10 other divisions on show, including Classic Physique and Women’s Wellness.
  • Samson Dauda will look to retain his Olympia title after being beaten earlier this year. Urs Kalecinski will aim to crack the top 10 places after making his sensational Open debut

My Predictions And Expectations

There’s been a wide range of Mr. Olympia winners stretching over 60 years, with no shortage of shocks and upsets. Some years have prioritized the mass monsters, while others have focused on conditioning and stage presence.

With Samson Dauda taking his first Olympia title, the show organizers have started to favor the bigger athletes. However, the previous years gave titles to smaller athletes, including Hadi Choopan, who is well-known for his incredible conditioning.

My Predictions

I’ve watched the Olympia for the last 15 years or so, covering it as a writer for the past three. I’d like to think that I’m fairly experienced and could give a good, educated guess on the athlete’s placings. However, this year, I’m excited to admit that I’m really undecided on who’s going to take the title.

If you look at previous Olympia’s and the build-up to this year’s event, it’s hard to know who to focus on. Hadi Choopan took the 2022 title, showcasing incredible conditioning on a much smaller frame than most of his competitors. Derek Lunsford took the following year’s title, also as a smaller athlete, with an amazing mix of shape and conditioning.

However, Samson Dauda, the current Mr. Olympia, was the biggest athlete on stage by some margin last year. His conditioning was good, but definitely not as good as Hadi’s or even Derek’s, who came second and third, respectively.

With the judging criteria continually changing, it’s really hard to make a firm decision on this year’s competition. Add in the return of Nick Walker and the rise of Urs Kalecinski, and it’s anyone’s guess.

Even so, here are my top five predictions for this year’s Open Division:

  1. Samson Dauda (UK).
  2. Derek Lunsford (USA).
  3. Hadi Choopan (Iran).
  4. Nick Walker (USA).
  5. Martin Fitzwater (USA).

I’m pretty confident that these will be the top five athletes based on their updates and previous competitions. However, I’m finding it really hard to decide the order.

If Samson can bring better conditioning, I think he’ll win again based on his recent update. However, Derek’s recent victory at the Arnold puts a few doubts into my head. Hadi always has amazing conditioning and will definitely be in the conversation for the top three or even the win.

The main question mark centers around Nick Walker. He looked Amazing at the Pittsburgh Pro, narrowly losing to Derek. He then earned his Olympia qualification at the New York Pro, again looking much improved from previous years.

After missing the last two Olympia’s due to injury, it’s really hard to decide where he’ll place. If I’m going off his updates, it could even be the top three. In around two weeks, we’ll find out if I’m correct!
